QMTB Trail Boss

Over the course of the last three years I have been acting as the Quantico Mountain Bike Club Trail Boss, that’s me, all business, above…

As such, I am a member of the club’s board and charged with overseeing, organizing and tracking trail maintenance efforts and volunteers hours on the Quantico Marine Corps Base Mainside and Training Area 6C (TAC6) trails.

I became Trail Boss several years ago because I wanted to have an impact on the trails I often ride at Quantico. While expressing discontent on something that had been done, one of my friends flat out told me, “want it changed? get involved.” So I did.

I often get way more credit than I really deserve. While I may hold the Trail Boss title, all of the credit goes to the volunteers that have helped me execute some of the vision I’ve had to improve some of the trails. I firmly believe that everything that needs to be done at Quantico, or for that matter any other trail system, should be a collaborative process. That is why I always solicit the input from fellow riders and QMTB board members to ensure anything we do is as best as possible. I’m proud of the collaboration and everything that we have accomplished together during my tenure as QMTB Trail Boss.

This past weekend nearly 500 riders headed out to ride the trails the QMTB volunteer team maintains and the various re-routes and re-alignments we have implemented over the course of the last three. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces and hearing how much they enjoy the trails we maintain is all the reward I need for all the efforts we’ve put into the trails. I’m hoping that by the time the 2023 Epic rolls around we’ll be showcasing
